I’ve had the chance to color a few other Adventure time things the past few weeks.  One other that I should mention is the book for Free Comic Book Day.  It’s a flip book of Peanuts and Adventure Time.  I colored one of the AT stories and also a couple on the Peanuts side.  So if your going to be out and about for FCBD be sure and check it out!  For those not in the know Free Comic Book Day is Saturday May 5th, so hop on down to your local comic book shop and see what they’ve got going on.  :)

So lets see the last thing I updated on was the end of Darkwing and the start of Sandra and Woo. Since then I’ve gotten a couple more gigs at kaboom, one being that I get to color a few stories for the new Peanuts comic. Yeah I know, I can’t believe it myself. Seriously I’m a huge peanuts fan, have been since I was a kid. The huge peanuts treasury book I have is one of my prized possessions, it might even make the list of things to save in case of fire. heh So yeah, who’s happy.. this girl is.

Other than that just been trucking along with the normal flatting load and then getting as much coloring done as I can in between all that. I just put the finishing touches on a new portfolio, the one here at wordpress was always a pain to update. So I’ve opened one at carbon made. That address is http://lisamoore.carbonmade.com I snatched up that url a few months back when I saw that it was actually available. Try getting an email address/url/username of your actual name when your last name is moore… it ain’t easy. So I was thrilled to grab that one. Not to mention the site is super easy to update. So maybe I’ll actually start having current samples of my work.

In other news over the past couple months I’ve started to actually pick up and read some comics from the big two. I’ve always been so intimidated when thinking about trying to jump into a series at marvel or dc, there is just so much history there. So with the New 52 from DC I took the opportunity to jump in. There was also a fairly good jumping on point with the xmen so I’m reading 2 xmen titles and five or 6 dc. So far I’m really enjoying it. Not only am I getting some great stories but I’m becoming familiar with more artists/colorists work. It’s really great, makes me wish I’d started sooner. So far out of everything I’m picking up I’m enjoying Aquaman and Wolverine and the X-men the best. In case you wondered.

Anyway, I suppose that’s it for this post. I’ll try not to let another 3 months past between updates, but no promises!

I’m sad to say that my time coloring Darkwing Duck is coming to an end in just one more issue.  The series will actually be ending at issue 18.  It has been a blast and it was most certainly a dream come true to be a part of this amazing team.  All totaled I believe I’ll have colored 10 issues of the series, 11 if you count the story in the annual.  Amazing times and I’m really proud of the work I contributed to the series.   Coloring James Silvani’s art every month has been a great pleasure and it is certainly bittersweet to see that coming to a close.

So while my time on Darkwing is drawing toward a finish I’m happy to report that I’ve started work on the webcomic Sandra & Woo.  I was so excited to be chosen for this job.  The art style is fantastic and it is absolutely the sort of thing I adore coloring.  I’ll be coloring the twice weekly webcomic as well as going back and coloring all of the strips in the archive.  At this time there are several colored strips up on the site.   The comic is about a girl and her pet raccoon.

One other project that has recently started up is a webcomic for the podcast Zone 4.  I’m thrilled to be a part of the team, Zone 4 was actually the first podcast I ever listened to.  The comic is illustrated by the fabulous Andrew Law.  You can check that out every Monday at: http://www.zone4podcast.com/webcomic/  For now I’ll leave you with the strip from last week, I don’t think they’ll mind if I post it here.

So while one project that has been a major part of my life for the past year is drawing to a close,  It feels like a bit of a new beginning.  I’m embracing the changes and moving forward to whatever waits next.  I guess that’s it for the moment.  I’ll be back in a few weeks with some more updates and a few art posts.

I don’t think I ever mentioned that I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to color one of the recent darkwing covers.  It was for Issue 13.  I had fun with it using a different style than I use for the interior colors.  Snagged a copy of it from google with the logo and everything.  So here’s that…

Nothing else major to report.  Just wanted to drop in and say I’m still here. ^_^  I’ll try to get back to posting monthly updates at least.  Now back to work I go.  Later!

This was a character pinup I colored several months back as a sort of try out for the book. I just wasn’t 100% sure I could pull off a style that suited the art. In the end I think everyone dug it and I’ll be coloring the book. The story is Half-Breed written by: Dustin Carson. Art by: Chris Metzger

And with that for this week anyway it’s a wrap.

So after the break I realized that I really need to try to get myself more organized.  Had a ton of flatting work come pouring in all at once which is always a little overwhelming when that happens.  It is welcome of course, but I knew I had to do something to keep things straight or I’d drop the ball for sure and miss a deadline.  My solution?  A dry erase board… yeah that simple. lol

It is a pretty nice dry erase board, but still that’s all it is.  I had taken to using google calendar the past few months to keep track of what I was working on.  Though I found recently that it was getting annoying typing all of that in and moving things to keep track of it all, as some projects got pushed back or new things came in to finish quickly.  So now I have this new system.  Which is basically the same thing only I have to actually get out of my comfy chair and mark things off on the board as I finish them.  Which is good and is actually one of the reason I got the board.  I need to get up and move every few hours, so this forces me to do that.  Here it is if you wanna see…

Oh so interesting. lol  Really though I like it a lot.  I’ve only been using it a week but I like it.  I don’t actually go in order when I’m working I just write things down as they come in and keep track of the due dates.  Flatting in blue, coloring in green, due dates in red.  Simple but effective because it’s hanging on the wall at all times and I can look up and see when things are due.   The to-do list is going to expand a great deal next week, I’m sure it will look more impressive when I have all of the things I have to color listed on it. heh

So since I’ve been doing more coloring lately I’ve had more due dates to juggle.  Just seemed like  a fairly fun way I could keep track of it all.  I mean come on everyone likes writing on dry erase boards. ^_^

So that’s it, my super boring update for the week.  Oh, almost forgot.  Did you notice the new look for the site!  Finally got it all in place the way I wanted it.  So it’s likely staying just the way it is for now.  The two characters at the top of the side bars are new and the cloud background at the top is new.  I like it!  Now must get some sleep as I have a couple super heroes that are asking to be flatted tomorrow. heh

I figure I’ll start with the most recent and my personal favorite so far. There were just a couple things in this one that turned out really well in my opinion. That bone helmet/head gear (whatever) thing on the guy in the background I’m especially proud of. Just the way the shading and highlights worked out I just think it all clicked on this cover. It was fun!

I also have a video of the coloring process on this one.  It’s a speed video set to music.  Bill Gladman picked the music and it’s actually the two songs he has had in his head as the soundtrack for these characters, pretty cool.  Here’s that:

Next up the cover for Tales From the Field #3.  I had fun painting in the clouds on this one.  I love clouds, it’s seriously like my favorite thing to do when I’m coloring. lol

This one you actually get to see the full cover with the title and everything.  If I’m recalling correctly this was the first cover I colored for them.  Since taking over on Darkwing I’ve gotten a bit better at special effects thanks to tips from Andrew Dalhouse. So seeing this one again I wish I could go back and retouch a few things. To late now though I believe this one has already been printed.

I think I’ve done one other thing for them but I can’t remember if it was being used as a cover or not.  So I’ll hold off on posting that one.
